Discover the Draa Valley during a trip to southern Morocco. Between Agzu and Mamid via Zagora, the Draa River forms a long fertile strip in the middle of the Hamada, a vast limestone and desert plateau. You will discover landscapes filled with flowery oases, orchards, and palm groves. A beautiful excursion awaits you on the road connecting Ouarzazate and Mhamid...
Populated since prehistoric times, the villages of the Draa Valley experienced a real boom from the end of the 16th century, thanks to the trans-Saharan trade in gold, salt, and spices under Saadian influence. A rich and fertile land, the Draa Valley had to resist many invaders, as evidenced by the watchtowers and kussurs that stand in the middle of the palm groves.
In Tinift, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Sagro Mountains and the hills below. Take a break from Tizi N Tinififft and make a small detour to Tizgui. A few kilometers before reaching Agdz, turn left and left again at the entrance of the village. A 10-minute walk will take you to the Draa Waterfalls. You can swim there, have a mint tea, and enjoy the freshness and tranquility of the place.
After crossing the Tansikt bridge, you can follow the Draa River by taking the right fork of the road to Tazarine. This path will take you into the heart of the valley to discover a mysterious mud village before reaching Zagora (4 hours). For those who prefer vast desert landscapes, cross the Tansik bridge and take the road to the right for 15 km. Discover the Grande Jambe, a lunar landscape that stretches from Jebel Rath to Zaouia Tafetina. At the exit of the city, the road splits into two parts. Turn left towards Tazzarine and continue straight towards Zagora (80 km).
Between Agdz and M'Hamid, there are numerous palm groves, in the midst of which are the legendary Kasbahs of the Draa. You can visit the Kasbah of Caïd Ali and its orange gardens. The roof offers a spectacular view of the surrounding oasis and the Kusur.
